The Ukrainian School of Political Studies unites more than 450 people – these are only alumni of the School, and we also have participants in other programmes. We are developing the community, conduct networking and meetings for our alumni, after which new opportunities always emerge.
This time, at the invitation of the School, Steven Pifer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States (1998-2000 – in Ukraine), as well as Director of Arms Control and Non–Proliferation of weapons of mass destruction at the Brookings Institution’s Centre, met with our alumni.
Yes, we missed the Halloween celebration. But on October 31, there was a heated discussion between the American diplomat and alumni of USPS, who are new political leaders: Oleksandra Ustinova – MP of Ukraine (2014 alumna); Yulia Kovaliv – Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine (participant in 2019); Dmytro Natalukha – MP of Ukraine (2018 alumnus); Andriy Prokopenko – Chairman of Chernihiv Regional State Administration (2009 alumnus).
How can Ukraine develop onward? How to properly build international relations, in particular, with the United States of America? How should MPs act, and what do Ukrainians and the international community expect from them? These topics were discussed with Steven Pifer.
