The Ukrainian School of Political Studies is, first of all, Community, networking and a unity of differences. We are constantly emphasising this but have a feeling that we can do much more for the Community.
This is how the idea of USPS Alumni Programme came about. It is a format that brings together graduates from different years and responds to their request for good education thanks to programmes designed specifically for the Community.
To introduce graduates to the format and test it, we simultaneously launched recruitment for four courses: literature, philosophy, economics and political theory.
Course on literature was the first to begin. It was given by Evhen Stasinevych, Literary critic, curator, lecturer at many educational platforms and author of the book “Price of the question”. During the training module, our group learned about modern literature and birth of bestsellers.
What do Conan Doyle’s stories have in common with Urban Development? How do post-war anxieties shape a cult of the Lord of the Rings and Ayn Rand? Why do very serious societies see The Catcher in the Rye as something completely different from what it is? And how did new and complex challenges of the 21st Century become foundation stones of J. K. Rowling’s triumph?
After such a successful start of the new programme, we will certainly continue to develop the format of training for our graduates.
And these two days were very cozy, sincere and meaningful.
