USPS Alumni Programme, module 3: Economics

We are completing the third module of educational format of USPS Alumni Programme for our Alumni!

Together with Schumpeter School of Innovation, USPS prepared a course on economics for our Alumni. It was conducted by Pavlo Sheremeta, Manager-economist and Minister of economic development and trade (2014).

An economic breakthrough for Ukraine is impossible without production of innovations and development of entrepreneurship. Therefore, innovations and non-standard approaches to doing business have become the main topics of this course.

For two days, participants talked about Creative Destruction, a role of a state in stimulating Creative Destruction and social values that positively influence internal innovation. Also, as part of the training, participants met with owners of Ukrainian businesses who are implementing innovative approaches to doing business in order to analyse, based on practical cases, the theoretical foundations that they learned in this course. Gratitude to Alina Ocheretiana and Yaroslav Zablotsky for the opportunity to have a dialogue.

How does emergence of innovative business affect the level of corruption? What can a state do to increase a number of innovators and how does competition encourage innovation? During two busy days the participants were working together in order to find answers to all these questions.
